I am currently grappling with a dilemma as a landlord and am reaching out to the community for advice and insights. After conducting a background check on a potential tenant, I uncovered criminal records that raised concerns about their suitability as a renter. However, upon rejecting their application, the tenant insisted that the reported convictions were inaccurate and not reflective of his criminal history. He expressed intentions to dispute the findings with the RealPage screening company, leaving me uncertain about the reliability of the information provided. As someone who has never encountered inaccuracies in background reports before, I am at a crossroads and unsure about how to proceed. I would greatly appreciate any advice or shared experiences from those who have faced similar challenges, helping me navigate the complexities of this situation.

I did a background check on my potential tenant and I discovered some criminal records that made me think that he could be a risky tenant. When I rejected his application, he lotd me that the company was reporting inaccurate information and in fact, the convictions reported there are not his. He said that he’ll dispute with the RealPage screening company to get the report corrected. Now, I’m in a position where I don’t know what to do, I don’t know if I should trust him or not. Moreover, I never faced incorrect reports so I still rely on that information. I found this article, but I don’t know if it’s true the information described there. Please, tell me what should I do in my case? https://consumerattorneys.com/article/realpage-tenant-screening-report-errors
